Here at KELSEY, we use Helianthus Seed Oil, as it is rightfully known, in 5 out of 6 of our products – we’re big fans and here’s why.
- It’s rich in antioxidants. It’s a fabulous source of antioxidants, such as vitamin E, which can help protect the skin from free radical damage. Antioxidants play a crucial role in tackling fine lines, preventing premature aging and maintaining healthy skin.
- It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated skin. It may therefore be beneficial for skin conditions such as eczema.
- It’s super hydrating. Especially during these colder months when one minute we’re outside being whipped by cold winds and the next inside with the heating on stripping our skin of much need moisture. Sunflower oil is lightweight and easily absorbed by the skin. It helps to lock in moisture, keeping the skin hydrated without clogging pores and gives you improved skin texture, making it appear smoother and more supple.
- It’s non-comedogenic. Basically it means that it’s less likely to clog your pores so is suitable for oily or acne prone skin.
- It supports the skin barrier. Sunflower oil contains fatty acids, such as linoleic acid, which are essential for maintaining the integrity of the skin barrier. A healthy skin barrier helps prevent water loss and protects the skin from external pollutants.
