In an age where sustainability is more than just a buzzword, we’re thrilled to see other brands taking it just as seriously as we do. Founded in 2003, Circular&Co is on a mission to redefine our relationship with waste and resources through the principles of the circular economy. Their manifesto, ‘made from waste to end waste’ aligns perfectly with our upcycling credentials.
Their approach focuses on minimising waste and maximising resource efficiency by keeping products in use for as long as possible, then recycling them into new products at the end of their lifecycle. They introduced the first fully recyclable and reusable coffee cup, designed to last for over ten years featuring an innovative 360° drinking experience and a spill-proof lid. It was a world first made from used paper coffee cups - each Circlular&Co reusable coffee cup uses 6 old paper cups. To date, 15.5 million single use paper cups have been removed from the waste stream and repurposed.
Having successfully cornered the reusable coffee cup market with co-branding with Costa, The National Trust, Starbucks and even Fortnums they’re also initiated a returnables scheme with many eateries. Customers get their take away beverage in reusable cups that are returned, commercially washed, and reused, embodying their belief that "if it’s not circular, then it’s not sustainable."
Circular&Co is now addressing the water bottle market. It’s estimated that an average of 35.8 million plastic bottles are used every day in the UK, but only 19.8 million are recycled each day. This means there are on average 16 million plastic bottles a day not making their way into the recycling bin. (recyclenow.com)
