Meet our new raspberry upcycling friends - Penrhos Spirits
If you’ve been fans of KELSEY for a while then you might know that love it when we find a like-minded brand in the UK. This month, we couldn’t be prouder to be partnering with Penrhos Spirits, their commitments, ideals and mindset is so similar to ours it’s the perfect match.
Penrhos are based in Herefordshire on the border between England and Wales, their delicious gins are made from upcycling fruit. But how did it all begin?
In 2018, two farmers and lifelong friends, Charlie and Dickie, were concerned about the amount of fruit waste on UK farms, sound familiar? They set about distilling gin in their calf shed and by December that year, Penrhos was born.
Growing over the next few years, winning awards and introducing new flavours - rhubarb, apple & elderflower, blueberry and of course wonky raspberry. Penrhos wanted to make a step change in their sustainability commitments. So in 2023 they became the first distillery to move from traditional glass bottles to 100% recycled aluminium, improving the carbon footprint of the packaging by 91%!
We applaud Penrhos’ commitment to sustainability and reducing farm waste and just love their wonky raspberry gin. Each bottle contains 100g of raspberries and in 2024 they saved a whopping 52,000 raspberries from waste.
